Duncan Romaine, going with companions to seek a treasure somewhere in the province of Archangel, is beset and hindered at every turn by emissaries of the Russian Government. One cannot help thinking, whatever may be said, that the Russians' best plan would have been to lay hold of the treasure

themselves. But, then, what would have become of the story? There is an unfailing charm about these treasure-stories. We are all pleased to think of becoming rich without any trouble.
