RUBBER'S RECOVERY.

How well-managed Rubber companies have quickly returned to prosperity, thanks to the improvement in the price of rubber under Restriction, was modestly outlined in the speech of Mr. Macfadyen, the chairman of Hoscote Rubber Estates, at Thursday's annual meeting. This company has the very moderate capitalisation of £35.2 per acre, and it harvested a crop in the year to June 30th last of 1,585,433 lbs., compared with 1,287,067 lbs. in the previous year. The profits have been arrived at most conservatively, for the Profit and Loss Account has been charged with the whole cost incurred in the year on new buildings and plant and upon the programme of replanting and special cultivation in hand. The outlook is good, for, with the exception of about too acres the replanted rubber is now old enough to tap, and standard production has been raised to 2,333,799 lbs., equivalent to 494 lbs. per acre.
