History of the Prudential Insurance Company of America. By Frederick

L. Hoffman. (Prudential Press.)—We do not wish to express any opinion on the merits of the Society whose history is here given. But we may safely say that this volume contains many interesting and suggestive facts. There are, for instance. eleven Industrial Insurance Companies in the States. Three of these have, between them, more than eight millions of policies in force, while the amount of insurances in force (January 1st, 1900) was 1,219,778,336 dols. (X251,579,250), giving an average for each policy of a little over £26. The difficulty in industrial insurance is the cost of management.
