(To rue EDITOR or THE " SPECTATOR...1 8111,—I have no

alternative treatment for Isle of Wight disease to recommend to your correspondent Mr. Elliston, who leas Impel "bacterol " with complete SUCCESS. My letter was concerned with the threatened starvation of our bees owing to the dearness of the only form of sugar the Board of -Agriculture allows beekeepers to buy. I further complained that our sugar is already made inta candy and is shrugged with a particular preparation, though we may wish to use it in the form of syrup and prefer not to give medicine to healthy bees. If the real object of the medication is to render the sugar unfit for human consumption, I du not see why brewers and jam-makers should be more trusted than bees

P.S.—I learn from the British Bee Journal of August 30th that Messrs. Pascal! have on their own Initiative made the stipulation that the profits, if any ton the manufacture of the candy), should Ire handed over to the Board of Agriculture to be devoted to tharitable objects.
