[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.]

Sia,—The Rev. H. G. D. Latham must surely know that his reply to Mr. Morgan Gibbon is only a partial one. To take

a case out of many, a death took place in my congregation only three weeks ago- The first part of the funeral service was conducted in our own church. The interment took place immediate,ly afterwards in a cemetery a few hundred yards away, but for the service at the grave an unknown clergyman of the Church of England had to appear while I stood by amongst the mourners in silence.—I am, Sir, &c., 26 Waterloo Road, Nottingham.
