Stn,—The correspondence in your columns shows how any discussion of India inevitably harps back to pure politics--so pure as to have, like pure mathematics, no, relation to realities. And so the fundamental problems that affect the vast majority of Indians continue to be ignored: miserable poverty, illiteracy, over-population, malnutrition and disease. How political recrimination or splitting up India is going to help, God
