Rugby rumpus

Sir: In view of the continuing hypocritical brouhaha over the South Africans' Rugby tour of Britain, may one pose two pertinent questions?

1. The tourists are bringing a multiracial team: how many from our big black or coloured population will be in the British sides? I venture to say none.

2. If, as a result of the visit, we are which is unfortunately improbable – barred from the forthcoming Olympics, what percentage of the people in this country would be heartily glad to be spared the enormous coverage of these phoney 'games' and to escape being bored by the ructions inevitably resulting from international athletic contests between countries with widely divergent interpretations of amateurism? I venture to suggest 70 per cent.
