THE POINT OF AYR COLLIERIES

Ste,—Notwithstanding the explanation given by the Minister of Fuel and Power, there is a general feeling in the country that this colliery company has been grossly victimised, and it comes as a great shock to at least on of your old subscribers that The Spectator should condone such victimisa- tion. You, Sir, ought not to accept tyranny either from the Left or the Right, and your readers expect you to fight it from whatever quarter it comes. Motley in the Rise of the Dutch Republic has an undying phrase: " Tyranny ever old and ever young."—Yours very truly, College House, Chilwell, Nottingham. GEORGE SMITH.
