A little opera in two acts, called The Queen of

a Day, was produced at the Haymarket on Wednesday. The libretto is a version of the well- known vaudeville La Reine d'un Jeer ; and the .music is by Mr. Edward Fitzwilliam, a promising young composer. It consists chiefly of ballads, with two or three choruses and concerted scenes ; and shows a good vein of melody and considerable skill in part-writing and instrumentation. The principal character—the little grisette Who is made to personate the' Queen of Charles the Second—was performed by Miss Louisa Pyne in a manner which could not be surpassed by any star of the'Opera Cemique : Harrison, as the tenor, acquitted himself very respectably. The piece was well received ; and the music, from its melody and simplicity, is calculated for popularity in a published form.
