Belles well-known opera Les (*sere Fells *mon was produced, in

its Italian shape, for his benefit on Monday, and exceedingly well received. It is a very pleasant piece; its lively and comic subject being treated in a congenial spirit by the composer. In the music there is nothing re- markably striking or original ; but it is easy, fluent, elegant, admirably constructed for effect, and set off by orchestral accompaniments at once light and brilliant. If not a work of great genius, it shows the skill and experience of a thoroughbred musician. It was excellently performed ; the principal parts being sustained by Crnvelli, Giuliani, Gardoni, Co- letti, and Massol ; and all the performers exerted themselves to do justice to the work of their able music-director.
