THE INCREASE OF ENGLISH GAME.

[TO THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR.") Sur,—In the article on " The Increase of English Game" in the Spectator of August 9th you speak of the improvements in the game-producing power of the country, and you ask : " Where, then, does the ' other side' come in ? What are the drawbacks to the gradual investment of this country with some of the attributes of a vast game preserve ? Does any one suffer ? And if so, who ? " I venture to think that if the writer of the article were to address these questions to the men who try to hunt foxes in some of the more strictly preserved counties he would receive answers which in their import and in the varying strength of their language might astonish him considerably.—I am, Sir, &c., F. G.
