NEWS OF THE WEEK.

ON Theidity the Doil Eireann assembled to hear Mr. Coigrave's 'statement on the Boundary Question. Mr. Cosgrave spoke for about three quarters of an hour, and his speech is said to have made a considerable impression on his hearers. We do not intend to criticize his words in detail, but we may note that he seems to rely very largely upon technical and even verbal points. We cannot help thinking that he will find this a 'very diffieult and dangerous attitude to maintain. He must remember that if he attempts it he cannot deny it to his opponents. He argued throughout on the assurription that Ireland (and by Ireland he means the whole _island) was during the rebellion an indeffenddit nation, and that its represen- tatives made a treaty as sovereigns and equali with the British Government.
