Sir : I notice that some elements of the press

tend to appeal to prejudice by reference to the fact that the Ibo are predominantly Christian while the Northern Nigerians are not. Since prejudice is thus to be invoked, should it not be pointed out also that the Ibo still persist, on a tremendous scale, in a social ritual peculiar to themselves, of horse-torture of a most re- volting kind, that neither Christianity, nor apparently the former colonial administration, was strong enough to halt?
