Cantnar's credo

From Mr Jeremy Harris Sir: Mr Hobson ('Losing our religion', 2 February) asserts that the article by the Archbishop of Canterbury on Afghanistan and Iraq made no mention of the author's religion, and referred to God only in the final sentence. It might therefore, he concludes, have been written by 'an agnostic aid expert'.

Hardly, Mr Hobson. At the beginning of his article, the Archbishop writes, 'We look for the guidance of God, but our understanding has all too many human frailties and deficiencies'. He also refers specifically to the 'Christian perspective' from which he then mounts his argument.

It seems unlikely, therefore, to be the work of an agnostic. Of course. Mr Hobson is entitled to his opinion about the Church, but if he is going to hit the target, a bit more accuracy might help.
