White holidays

Sir: .Con the eve of his departure for the Commonwealth Conference, our Prime Minister quite rightly stated that 'we respect differences of policy between countries', and that any Commonwealth member 'maintains the right to settle its own policies'.

In which case, of course, it would be interesting to know why Mr Heath's own Foreign and Com- monwealth Office has recently de- livered a stern rebuke to Australia over that country's lack of assisted passages for coloured British immi- grants—particularly when 'whites- only' holidays are currently being offered. in South Africa to the people of Britain by Cooks and Bole: both of them owned by the British Government!• (* Speedbird Holidays in South Africa, offered by Cooks, BOAC and South African Airways—a South African Govern- ment agency. The advertisements in the British press, and the brochure, show only 'whites-only' hotels and beaches, and in fact South Africa totally bars any immigrant or tourist who is not racially pure white.)
