Arrows in the Dark. By the Author of " Said

and Done." Adrian L'Estrcrege ; or, Moulded out of Faults. The Eve of St. Mark. By Thomas Doubleday. (Smith, Elder, and Co.)—These three novels are very fair specimens of Messrs. Smith, Elder, and Co.'s shilling series of standard authors, which certainly deserves to be supported by novel-readers.

There is not a bad novel on the list, and very many are of the highest merit. Of the three mentioned above, each is a good specimen of its own school,—the first of the novel of real life, the second of the tale of passionate love, and the last of the romantic historical novel. All tastes are suited.
