H.M. the King of Spain has paid us another visit

as a private guest. He is always welcome, and this time he has brought us a fine gift, which has been added to the Natural History Museum. It consists of a family of Spanish or Pyrenean ibex, mounted in naturalistic rocky surroundings. The species has been saved from the extinction that threatened it in the mountains of Avila. The nation is also to gain under the will of Sir Sidney Colvin, who bequeathed numerous works of art to. the British Museum, National Portrait Gallery, and Fitzwilliam Museum, and also Lady Colvin's large series of letters from R. L. Stevenson to the Advocates' Library or National Library in Scotland. The same library is to be enriched by Lord Rosebery's gift of the rare Scottish books that he has collected at Barnbogle Castle.
