The forces of nature have done much damage this week

. Violent thunder and rain storms in Great Britain are a small matter compared with those reported from abroad. We regret the heavy loss of life caused by floods in a mountain district of Saxony. Still more damage has been done by an alarming earthquake in Palestine, in which over a hundred persons were killed. The Dome of the Rock was " badly shaken " according to the reports, and Government House on the Mount of Olives was so damaged as to be unsafe. The Hebrew University suffered badly and the shock did damage in Jericho, Bethlehem, and towns so far apart as Jaffa and Amman.
