Calls of love

CHRISTOPIIER HOLLIS

The Postmaster-General is proposing to erect a steel lattice tower eighty feet in height on Bredon Hill to improve telecommunications be- tween Birmingham and Bristol.

In summertime on Bredon The engineers surmise In spite of scenic beauty

A lattice tower will rise

To meet the Worcester skies.

From Birmingham to Bristol Incoming calls will range My love and I in concert And voices pert and strange Will answer the exchange.

The bells will ring to call them In alleys far away, And 'Number, please, good people,' My love and I will say.

'Good people, number, pray.'
