In our second edition last week it was stated, that

by recent ac- counts front Bombay the war in India had assumed a more serious aspect. KAM RAM, Shah of Herat, has united himself to the other princes of Atfghanistan in resistance to the British invasion of that country. Thus a valuable ally has deserted to the enemy. Pre- parations were in progress to give the invaders a warm reception. The fortress of Aden, in Arabia, situate on the shores of the Red Sea, was captured by a British expedition from Bombay : the place was taken by storm, and 150 Arabs and 13 British soldiers were killed. The fortress had been sold to the Indian Government by the Arabs, who took the money and then refused to give up the fortress.

The Madras papers state that a serious war with the Burmese was daily becoming more probable.
