MEMORIAL TO SIR AUGUST MANNS.

Sra,—Seeing the great services to English music and the many kindnesses to English musicians rendered by the late Sir August Manna during a period of over forty years, it seems only fitting that the Society of British Composers should take the initiative in endeavouring to raise some suit- able memorial to his revered name. A Committee is therefore being formed, including the names of Sir A. C. Mackenzie, Sir C. H. H. Parry, and Sir C. V. Stanford, and I am desired to intimate to all native artists and music-lovers that subscrip- tions may be addressed to the offices of the Society of British Composers, 309 Oxford Street, W., and will be thankfully acknowledged by me.—I am, Sir, &c.,
