The movement against the Dictatorship in Spain has spread to

the University of Madrid. The students are on strike, and the Government has responded by virtually closing the University. A few classes 'are allowed to carry on, but in most cases the students have been informed that they have forfeited their matricula- tion fees, and that if they wish to return to the Univer- sity after April 1st they must pay fresh fees, Thus the University has been treated like the officers -of the Artillery Corps, who were disbanded and informed that they could rejoin if they cared to take a fresh and more comprehensive oath of loyalty. On Tuesday the police fired on the demonstrators in Madrid, and some of the students were wounded.
