Sir: Auberon Waugh also has New Testa- ment authority for detecting the hand. of God in the nasty diseases from which practising homosexuals suffer (Another voice, 23 February). In describing a wick- ed, secularised society, St Paul observes: 'For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. Their women ex- changed natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men commit- ting shameless acts with men and receiving in their own bodies the due penalty .for their error' (Romans i 26-27). Perhaps it is true, as Mr Waugh hints and as Paul maintains (v.32), that we are all at fault for encouraging them.
