A requisition signed by about 150 of the Bridport electors

has been addressed to Mr. Baillie Cochrane, requesting; him to stand again for Bridport at the gene ral election. First on the list is the name of William Rockett, the person who was sworn to before the Election Committee as having voted for Mr. Romllly though his vote Was recorded for Mr. Cochrane. In consequence of this evidence, Bocketes name was transferred from the one candidate to the other, which gave a majority of 1 to Mr. Romilly. Beckett, in a petition to the House of Commons subsequently presented, denies that he voted for Remaly: he has voted at many elections, but always for the Tory candidate.
