The Select Committee appointed to inquire into the arrange- ments

of the House of Conainons has, it is said, finished its inves- tigation and decided on its report. It intends to recommend the construction of an entirely new House, to seat 569 members, and cost 129,0001. The present House would then be the Members' Lobby, an accommodation greatly required. We hope the report will be accepted, if only to show how we do business in this country. The main object in building the Palace of Westminster was to house the Commons worthily. We spent three millions, and then discovered that everybody had been provided for except the Commons, who are now to be asked for 129,0001. more.
