FAITH AND SCIENCE. THEY dwell apart, that radiant pair;.

In different garbs appear ; And while the vows of men they share,.

Have separate altars here.

A golden lamp the one displays, Of light still clear and keen ; The other walks 'neath starry rays, With sometimes clouds between.

The voice of one enjoins the wise To mete, and weigh, and prove ; The other lifts expectant eyes, And inly murmurs, " Love."

Both teachers of celestial birth,

To each be credence given,—

To Science who interprets Earth, To Faith the seer of Heaven.
