In Dr. Alexander Maclaren's "Expositions of Holy Scripture" (Hodder and

Stoughton, '7s. 6d. per vol.) we have two volumes of The Psalms, the first dealing with "i.-xlix.," the other with " L-exlv." Dr. Maclaren judiciously selects such passages as are suitable for exhortation, and does not bind himself to continuous commentary. It is not necessary, therefore, for him to make an apologia for the imprecatory passages. It is needless to say that the opportunities thus given for discourse tending to edification are used to the very best advantage.
