Inflation as a way of life

Sir: When will the people realise that inflation is a system of government, a system of fiscal policy, a system of trade, commerce and banking, a system of psychological warfare which keeps us one and all under constant threat, and that, far from fighting it, it is the intention of the government to increase and propagate inflation to intolerable lengths. We are not governed by the will of the people or even the will of parliament, but by a consortium of vast industrial and banking empires who will let nothing stand in their way.

Until this concept of social and industrial life is cleaned up, until the whole pulsating gangrenous mass is gouged out, cleansed and cauterised, life will be not worth living. There will be no peace of mind, no relaxation, no enjoyment of the things of the spirit; there will be nothing left to us but the gibbering bleak nonsense of stock .exchange quotations and the balance of payments myth.

If our money is as valueless as the government would have us believe, why do they want to take it off us? When a man has earned a pound he is entitled to a pound. That should be plain, even to ,an economist. The consortium tell us that once we have earned the pound it is only worth say 66 pence. It is obvious that industrial peace and normal trade cannot be expected under such conditions.
