Sir: An Young Man was the title of a book written by Leslie Paul, which was pub- lished in 1951; it related specifically to Political disillusionment but the phrase was used thereafter in a generalised sense. It was used by George Fearon about John Osborne, but Lindsay Anderson (Books, 9 November) is not correct in saying he invented it.
