Wine of the Week

AGOOD deal of Swiss wine has been find its way down English gullets this past con of weeks because of Swiss Fortnight, which been marked by tastings all over the shop, well as those rather apologetic flags droop from the lamp standards in Oxford Street. 1 411 liked some of the red Dole I have been ofler It comes from the Valais, has a deep ruby col and something of burgundy about the taste a smell, as it should have, for it ic made of same variety of grape—but it seems to be one in quality for a red wine that costs 1 Os a bot I am told that the Swiss don't grow enough wines for themselves, and it may be that the Dole doesn't find its way here. But among white wines there are some with a pleas freshness and I would choose as my wine of week Neuchatel, from the northern shores that lake, which was known in England in Prince Regent's time (or so they say: Pri is made to endorse a lot of wines that seem have been forgotten), has a very slight pri on the palate, but is otherwise rather like a white burgundy. There are chateau-boil varieties to be had at 18s. a bottle or thereabd which I must say I begrudge paying for anyt other than French or German wine, but London-bottled Neuchatel, at about 9s. 6d., set quite good value and is stocked by the big sto such as Selfridges, Barkers and Whiteleys of which have wine departments that are v, keeping an eye on.
