Sovereignty and the Common Market

Sir: Patricia MacLaughlin (10 April) tells us we should join the EEC because it is important and we could then influence its policies. If this is a valid reason for submitting this land to alien rule and this nation to ultimate disap- pearance through unlimited im- migration, let us ask why just the EEC/ Why didn't we join Napoleon, the Kaiser or Hitler? We might well have got far better terms, without benefit of Turkish immi- gration a la EEC, and we would not have had to fight ruinous wars to keep our independence. As for today, why not join the us, as some EuroBrits used to advocate in the Federal Union days, or Japan, or the Comecon, or form and join a Canadian-Anzac union?

If it is admitted, as it is by the EuroBrits, that our country, our nation, our civilisation and our race are negotiable, let us at least get the best terms we can when we sell them.
