It is unthinkable that men like David Rowland of Fordham Investments are domiciled abroad just to save taxes, but a lot of people will never like them for it, even if it is only the sun they are after. I have sympathy for Mr Rowland's company Adepton who are following the City's 1971 path to greatness by trying to buy a larger company in exchange for paper. As a tactic it is second only to the over-valued dollar the United States used to penetrate Europe.

For poor, (or rather rich but perhaps not rich enough) Mr Rowland to have the rules changed in mid-flight by Lord Shaw- cross and his spoilsports on the takeover panel is beastly.
