We have been informed that Michael Deakin's review of Within Whicker's World (20 March) has been construed as suggesting that Alan Whicker played less than a major role in the preparation of his television interviews. That was not the in- tention of Mr Deakin or of the Spectator who apologise to Mr Whicker for any em- barrassment caused.
