The tenth session of the Central Criminal Court for the

current year commenced on Monday. The calendar contained a list of 23:i prison- ers for trial. Mr. Jesse Oldfield begged to be excused fann serving as a juror—be had a mental and mond objection to sit in tit^ jury-box, but no physical one. The Recorder asked first for his mental objec- tion ; and Mr. Oldfield replied, that lie could nit "conscientiously find man, woman, or child, guilty of theft, so long as the Poor-law con- tinued in operation." Mary Brown, or Bowen, a widow, was charged with an attempt to obtain money front Captain George Bray, by menacing him with a charge of indecent exposure in Kensington Gardens. It was proved that the Captain never left home on the day named by the prisoner, till nearly twelve o'clock at ni;211t, when he drove in iii:: cabriolet. to the Duke of Wellingtode—it was the anniv,rsary of the battle of Water- loo. The prisoner was sentenced to six weeks' incarceration.
