Mr. Lowther named on Tuesday the Commissioners for Intermediate Education

under the Irish Intermediate Education Act. They are to be Lord Chancellor Ball, Lord Behnore, Professor Molloy, the O'Connor Don, the Right Hon. Christopher Panes, Professor Porter, and Professor Salmon. The names are good ones, though it was objected with some reason that the Presbyterians of Ireland should have been better represented ; and it is somewhat strange that Lord Emly, who has done more probably than any other man to promote the movement for Intermediate Education in Ireland, should not be amongst the

Commissioners. Nevertheless, the names are names which will comtfand [confidence in all parts of /!land.
