The Cathedral School

Sut,—May I briefly emphasise one point in Mr. Newell's excellent article on this subject ? He says that a chorister must be " alert, resourceful and intelligent ": in my experience .a choir school encourages these qualities in a unique way, for a chorister learns also the power of co-operation with others and, if he has a good voice, to acquire a real self-confidence. For these and other reasons the Cathedral schools play a most valuable part in the national education, and deserve all the support that they can receive.—Yours faithfully, C. A. ALINGTON.
