TUDOR SUNDIAL WANTED FOR SULGRAVE MANOR

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—The Spectator and its Editor have already shown a great and practical interest in the work of furnishing and making beautiful Sulgrave Manor, the old English home of the Washingtons. We want very badly a Tudor Sundial, to place in the centre of the rose-garden at the Manor, and an American lady has offered generously to defray the cost if a suitable specimen can be found. Can any of your readers help us in this quest ? If so, I should be glad to hear from them at the Headquarters of the Sulgrave Institution, 1 Central Buildings, Westminster. We want, if possible, to secure a stone shaft, with or without steps, and a dial plate of undoubted Tudor or Jacobean date.—I am, Sir, &c., H. S. PERRIT,

Director and Secretary.
