Lord Clarendon, Under-Secretary for the Dominions, and Chairman-of the Oversea

Settlement Committee, has gone to Canada, which he already knows well as he farmed there for some years. With him is Mr. Terence Macnaghten, of the Colonial Office, who has been Vice- Chairman of the Committee since it was created. They will visit settlers who have emigrated with the help of the Committee. It is right that no one should be able to say (not that there is much risk of it) that they are forgotten by the authorities at home as soon as their backs are turned on Great Britain. We also hope that the travellers will come back with new ideas to lay before would-be emigrants and with a fresh vigour to apply here in persuading men, and women too, to grasp the great benefits that are to be had in Canada by those who will take the plunge. * * * *
