S. R. DAS

[To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR., SIR,—In his tenth article on " India Revisited," Mr.' Yeats-Brown mentions C. R. Das, and has described the' Doon School at Dehra-Dun. He attributes its inspiration to " the late C. R. Das." Thig is inaceurate and should be S. R. Das, who was a brother of the late C. R. Das.

Mr. S. R. Das was essentially a Liberal politician and believed in the so-called traditions of a public school. To C. R. Das, one of the 'most influential Congress leaders, to use his own words : " Public school traditions were a sham and a humbug."—I am, Sir, yours faithfully, D. V. TAHMANKAR.
