The Austro-German agreement on the whole has been well received

in the House of Commons. The inter- national situation has been worsening so rapidly in the last few months that there were real fears that we should not get through the long Recess without Parliament having to be recalled to grapple with a war situation. It is felt now that the immediate danger of a patsrh in Austria has been removed. It may be only a temporary stopping in a rotten tooth but at any rate the risks of a sudden abscess have been prevented.
