History will relate

Sir: Your issue of July 3 included a page of cartoons that have appeared in the press over the years about Aims of Industry. These included an amusing cartoon by Mark Boxer which we own.

Mr Boxer is unhappy in that, to quote from his letter: 'I think my reputation is damaged by the reproduction of an old, out of date drawing, also suggesting by implica- tion that I support a right-wing organisa- tion. I can only suggest you publish an apology in the Spectator and pay a substan- tial reproduction fee for which I enclose a bill.'

We are, of course, quite happy to apologise to MI' Boxer, It never occurred to us that anybody would view this cartoon as expressing support by Mr Boxer for us or even more serious as far as we are concern- ed — our support for Mr Boxer's views.
