Demerara papers to the 11th of April have been received.

The following is an extract from the speech of the Governor, Sir JAMES &WITH, on closing the session of the Colonial Parliament. It proves that matters are not in a very satisfactory state in De- merara.

" We are fast approaching a most momentous crisis in the affairs of this co- lony. If ever there was a period when all likings and dislikinga—all groundless and unfounded jealmisies—all foolish quarrels—all personal vanities—all ridicu- lous punc.ilios, ought to be consigned to oblivion—this surely is the moment. This is the time for every good man, sincerely anxious for the welfare of the colony, to rally round the Governor."
