Scientific Chemistry in Our Own Times. By William A. Tilden,

D.Sc. (Longmans and Co. 5s. net.) — Dr. Tilden publishes in this volume a series of six lectures of the popular kind delivered last year at the Royal School of Mines. The occasion suggested as a subject, a review of the history of chemistry during the last sixty years, though the time-limit is not strictly kept.—With this we may mention a highly technical treatise in the "International Scientific Series" (Kegan Paul, Trench, and Co., 5s.), Evolution by Atrophy in Biology and Sociology.—We may take occasion to record the appearance of the sixteenth annual issue of the Year- Book of the Scientific and Learned Societies of Great Britain and Ireland, compiled from official sources (Griffin and Co., 7s. 6d.)
