SIR,—Miss Whitehorn (such good writing, such bad thinking!) tells us

what she thinks Public Relations is for, and adds tartly that this is not what journalism is for. She doesn't tell us what she thinks is the pur- pose of journalism, but might agree that one of its functions is the provision of information to the pub- lic. This is precisely one of the functions of Public Relations; which is also concerned with providing information (which they can use or not, as they wish, and in any way they like) to journalists—and some of them, if Miss Whitehorn is representative, seem to need it.—Yours faithfully,
