The House of Commons has this week been going through

the national accounts. It had before it the Estimates for the' three Services : Army, Navy and Air. Now that these have been published it is possible to get an idea of what the Budget.will be like. Expenditure for next year should be 100 millions down (800 millions as against 900 last year). Of this by far the biggest saving ($88;000,000) is on the Civil Service, while £7,000,000 comes off' the' Navy and £10,000,000 from the Army:
