SOLDIERS' PAY Sta,—I notice in your issue of March Toth

that you say it would cost £4,600 million to raise the pay of British soldiers to the American level, &c. Are you sure this figure is correct? If, as I strongly suspect, it is very much the reverse, I suggest that it would be helpful for a proper understanding of the present controversy if you were to publish any correction of this figure which might be necessary.—Yours faithfully,

29 Alexander Grove, Finchley, N. 12. R. J. HANDER. [There was unfortunately a typographical error. The figure should be L400,000,000.—Eu., The Spectator.]
