A deputation from the inhabitants of Newry waited upon Sir

Robert Peel, at his residence in Privy Gardens, this morning, to present an address in approval -of .his Irish policy, and particularly of his banking measure. The deputation comprised the Marquis of Downshire, Viscount Castlereagh, Viscount Newry, M.P., and several gentlemen of local influence. The address was read by John Boyd, Seneschal of Newry. In a brief reply, Sir Robert Peel said-

" in devising measures calculated to improve the social condition and to promote the general prosperity of Ireland, we are acting in unison with the benevolent desires and intentions of a gracious Sovereign, who has ever taken the deepest interest in the wel- fare of that part of her dominions. We feel confident of ultimate success, if we shall receive that cordial cooperation and support of which the inhabitants of Newry have set an example so honourable to their character and beneficial to the interests of their country."
