According to a statement in the Morning Chronicle, the treaty

of commerce with Austria has opened new markets to the enter- prise of British merchants, which the latter are not slow to enter. Sugars have been transmitted by the Elbe into Bohemia ; large quantities exported to 'Trieste ; and at Vienna fair, considerable sales of British produce were made. The admission of English manufactures into the Austrian dominions will render it more difficult to enforce the Prussian Commercial League. By the above treaty, English vessels will be entitled to trade with the countries on the Danube; and this, in the present state of Eastern politics, may involve important consequences, beyond the imme- diate bearings of commerce.
