Americans think our habit of calling groundnuts groundnuts leads to

a lot of confusion—this kind of confusion, for example, from a Government order: " In the nuts (unground) (other than groundnuts) order, the expression `nuts' shall have reference to such nuts, other than groundnuts, as would, but for this amending order, not qualify as nuts (unground) (other than groundnuts) by reason of their being nuts (unground)."

Call them peanuts, call them peanuts, says the St. Louis Post Dispatch, in effect. I rather agree. - *
