Pencil ends

Sir: My only suggestion to Jossleyn Hennessy (3 October—'Short pencil' in his difficulty is to form a charity, the sole purpose of which would be to collect pencil- ends and to distribute them to those wretched individuals in need who continually devour the ends of pencils as they write. In this way it would be possible to satisfy Mr Hennessy and the sufferers from this dreadful and wasteful affliction.
